Dr. Abraham Yuen received his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo and has been serving patients in the GTA since 2017. He has a keen interest in managing ocular diseases such as glaucoma, dry eye disease, keratoconus and macular degeneration. In addition, he provides specialty services such as advanced dry eye treatments, low vision rehabilitation, myopia control and scleral lens fittings. Dr. Yuen currently serves on Council of the College of Optometrists of Ontario to ensure patients are receiving the best clinical care across the province. He was recently invited as a subject matter expert on the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) to help design a new licensing board exam for new graduates entering the profession.
In 2018, he was the recipient of the President’s Award from the Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO) – in recognition of his contributions serving the profession. Dr Yuen also served as the Low Vision Section Co-Lead of the Canadian National Association of Optometrists and helped establish the national guideline for low vision care, published in the Canadian Journal of Optometry (CJO) in 2020.
Dr Yuen believes in giving back to the community by volunteering in inner city outreach such as Homeless Connect Toronto, Out of the Cold and the Special Olympics. Dr Yuen enjoys educating the public about their eye health and has held many seminars in libraries, nursing homes, community centre, and churches.
Outside of the clinic, he is an avid supporter of the Toronto Blue Jays, and enjoys road trips, hiking and photography in his spare time.
